Afterward, Banri had been locked into a room where he was allowed to paint but was also forced to carve counterfeit coin molds, during which his abductors encouraged him to experiment with the mold's design. With his disappearance, his mother had followed clues that Banri left in his paintings while his father attempted to find Karin, while being mistaken for Heki Yuukoku, Karin's professional alias.
After he is reunited his mother, Karin announces she will accept responsibility for the counterfeiting scandal in order to spare her son from the death penalty. However, Emperor Ryuuki reveals that he had intended to keep the counterfeiting scandal quiet and spare Karin and Banri from punishment in exchange for Heki Yuukoku agreeing to create new coin molds that would be more much difficult to counterfeit.
